Description
A lovely little brooch, which is pure unadulterated and concentrated design. It reminds me of a sweet in a decorative foil wrapper. It is a rare piece, from the Netherlands and I am assuming circa 1930s and most likely an Amsterdam School piece. It has the little dagger stamp and a maker’s mark to the verso. I cannot discern the maker’s mark.
I love the equilibrium of this brooch and the attention to the tiny details. The central arrangement of stones has an agate to the centre, with an amethyst at each of the cardinal points. They are bright little stones. There are many hand-crafted details, including small areas of silver punched out between the amethysts. There are circles, ovals and an attractive finishing edge to the whole outline of the brooch. It is a pure, concentrated piece of design- delicate in size but mighty in its appeal.
It measures approx 5cm by 2.5cm and is in pleasing condition. Some patina so it would polish further if that is what you prefer.
I shall send in a gift box by Special Delivery within the UK or else by International tracked and signed. Boxes in the images are for display only and are not included. Thank you.
