There have been one or two similar necklaces at auction over the years and like this, they were unmarked but obviously Fahrner and a well-acknowledged design. I have discovered some designs by both Erich Kleinhempel and Christian Seybold for Fahrner, which bear many of the same features as on this beautiful pendant.

I adore the elongated form of this design and the two hand-worked side details on the main pendant, which continue the filigree design, that is contained within the centre of the design. The pendant is hand hammered (Hammerschlag) silver, which really  does look so wonderful with that tiny bit of patina to deepen the surface.

In the centre of the design is an oval, faceted amethyst with a small pearl both above it and below. The coils at the bottom and the foliage is detailed in that beautiful, delicate filigree.

The tiny wing pearl dangler adds extra articulation to the piece and refers the eye nicely back to the main design in the centre. They just don’t make pieces like this anymore.

The pendant measures approx 4.4cm in height. The chain measures approx 49.5 cm (19.5 inches) in length.

An early Fahrner piece, most likely by Kleinhempel of Seybold. It has the early silver stamp of “800” on the reverse and really sings quality. It is a dainty, beautiful and fine Jugendstil piece in excellent order.

This beautiful piece will be sent by either Special Delivery or else International Tracked and Signed. Thank you!
