Description

This is a lovely, clearly signed piece of design from the JUGENDSTIL era, from the design studio of Theodor Fahrner in Pforzheim, Germany c1910. You do see these foliate Fahrner designs from time to time and sometimes they are in brooch form, however, it is always nice to find a slightly different design. I love the way the chrysoprase and MOP have been set as the centre of flowers, with their petals radiating out….lovely.

The naturalistic oval shape of the silver openwork of the pendant provides the framework for the leaves, vines and chrysoprase and pearl flowers. I love the dramatic split stylised leaves and the curled tendrils. I also love the undulating frame, which is documented on similar pieces on p147 of the literature: “Theodor Fahrner Jewelry…between Avantgarde and Tradition” by Schmundt, Weber, Becker. It is the first time I have seen this exact design.

The back of the pendant is clearly marked “TF” combined in a circle, followed by “935” for the quality of silver, being a higher quality than sterling (usually reserved for the better pieces of jewellery design). I noticed that she also carries Swedish import marks on the top of the C clasp so at least we know part of her route-she went to Sweden after she was created.
The pendant measures approx 5cm wide (including pin) and approx 3.1cm in height.

It will be sent by International Tracked and Signed or else Special Delivery within the UK. Please note the box is for display purposes only and the brooch will be securely boxed in another box for safe passage.
