A superlative piece of German Jugendstil design from THEODOR FAHRNER, Pforzheim, Germany, dating to c1908. This is pleasingly, clearly signed with the TF maker’s mark, along with the “935” silver mark and the “DEPOSE” mark. Unusually the stamps (including Depose) are also on the ring that goes into the catch too.

Please refer to the book “Theodor Fahrner Jewelry between Avantgarde and Tradition” by Schmundt Weber Becker, p139, where you will see the same design of pendant but with spinel. Even the little filigree wire loops at the side of the pendant are the same. The silver spacers on this piece are original too. A beautiful book piece with heritage confirmed in a rather well-regarded reference book.

I adore the festoon design on this with two beautiful and delicate spacers. I love the two hand-worked side hooks on the main pendant, which continue the filigree design, that surrounds the amethyst flower on the centre of the design. I love the beautiful large round hand hammered (Hammerschlag) silver used for the pendant and the stunning bezel set peridot-coloured paste cabochon in the centre.

The stone is surrounded with such fine detailing….filigree curls all around the square section in the centre of the circle. The juxtaposition of shapes is fabulous!

The tiny, matching peridot-paste dangler adds extra articulation to the piece and leads the eye beautifully to the main stone in the centre. An incredible amount of thought and work has gone into its creation. They just don’t make pieces like this anymore.

The main part of the pendant has a diameter of approx 3cm and the height including the dangler is approx 4.5cm. The chain measures approx 43cm (17 inches) in length.

A lovely, book piece of Fahrner from the early years of the 1900s, which is not only in excellent condition, but also carries all the marks you would hope to find on such a piece. There has been a clasp replacement in the past but everything else is totally original and in pleasing condition. There is some patina, which I will run a cloth lightly over but leave it up to you, to polish further if you prefer.

A rare and highly collectable piece of original Jugendstil in a lovely festoon design.

This beautiful piece will be sent by courier Tracked and Signed or else Special Delivery within the UK. Thank you!
