If ever there was a Valentine’s gift …this is it! An antique high carat gold red ring in its original, antique red ring box! A glorious ring, crafted in the 1880s in England, which is fully UK hallmarked for Birmingham and for the firm of “J.S & S” who were operating in the 1880s and 1890s. A Victorian Valentine’s gem!
It is a beautiful design based around a slice of carved garnet of an oval form, which has a channel running around its perimeter. A pearl has been fixed to the centre of the design (I love the gold fixing, which you can see on the verso). A halo of seed pearls run all the way around the centrally set red stone.
The shoulders of the ring have a simple engraving and the band is actually substantial and fairly wide. It is in pleasing condition with little signs of wear. It measures as approx a UK size N (US 6.75). Her original, small red ring box has the name of the jeweller stamped on the silk insert.
Very rare to find a wonderful ring and the the same colour combination box so this is a delightful find. I shall send by Tracked and Signed, included in the price.
