NOW RESERVED for D ***** Thank you!

A truly splendid brooch, which is fine and beautifully worked. It is firmly attributed to William Thomas Blackband of the Birmingham School, c1910. It sings Blackband; skilfully made, containing hammered silver sections, motif open work and rope work features.

It packs a mighty design punch and has so much going on that when you hold it and study it for a while, more and more is revealed to you.

There are four pairs of double coil motifs set in the outer frame work of the brooch, which is trimmed with rope work wire. There are diamond shaped hammered silver details separating each pair of coils. The central “target” section has 12 faux rivet punches and then a wonderful round, domed malachite cabochon is set at the centre. Of course, you can see a twisted rope work finish to the bottom of the setting too.

A beautiful, beautiful thing in pleasing condition, with original pin (slight bend at end) and C clasp. It measures approx 3.6cm in diameter.
