A lovely example of the fabulous Art Nouveau / Arts and Crafts necklaces c1900 created by Murrle Bennett, the Anglo German company, who mainly sold through Liberty & Co of London. This is a beautiful necklace, in super condition and all original. The chains are original and the pendant is fully signed to the verso, as you would hope, with “950” for the quality of silver (higher than sterling) and also with the Murrle Bennett maker’s mark in a circle.
It is a pleasing example of one of MB’s hammered silver Art Nouveau designs, complete with matching spacers, also hand hammered. I love the Jugendstil touches with the parallel vertical lines that cut through the circular section. The main section is also decorated with the faux rivet features we love to see on these fabulous MB necklaces. The cut-outs, both on the main pendant and also on the spacers, enhance the design statement even further. I love that this is an all-original piece, right down to the original toggle fastener.
Every last ounce of hand-finished detailing is exquisite, right down to the hand millegrained solid gold mounts for the stones. In superb condition with the central pendant measuring approx 4.6cm in height and the wearable length of the chain approx 42cm ( 16.5 inches). One or two of the silver links are bent, as is usual.
I will send by International express courier or else Special Delivery within the UK-thank you. Box in images is for display purposes only.
