Description
This is a fabulous Victorian necklace with three strands of garnets of slightly graduated lengths so the necklace sits beautifully as a choker. The large gold box clasp (tests as a minimum of 9ct) is set with an impressive, faceted garnet and for security, there is a gold safety chain so you can wear this eye-catching piece with confidence.
Garnet can be quite tricky to capture well on photographs as it can appear darker in some lights, However, these stones are a wonderfully rich red and because of the variety of beads used within the design, they glisten and catch the light easily too. There is a pinkiness to them too in some lights so I did wonder if they were almandine garnets. There are round cabochon beads and these are joined by faceted garnets interspersed throughout the three strands. It allows that berry red to really sparkle as you move.
In pleasing condition for her age, there is a little wear to some of the stones in good keeping with her age but only minimal wear, which is very good news indeed. No wear to the main stone either…hurrah. When you handle this exquisite necklace you feel the heavy, tactile nature of such a piece. It is a lovely thing.
As mentioned each strand is a slightly different length so you get this 3 tier effect when worn. The shortest length is approx 38.5cm (a touch over 15 inches) and the longest is approx 42cm (16.5 inches).
I shall send in a new necklace presentation box by complimentary tracked and signed within the UK or else by international express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
