A lovely example of an Edwardian graduated station necklace, which has been crafted in silver gilt. It features a large oval white opal, set horizontally and three further (graduated) stones set on each side of the chain. It is more unusual to find a gilt version of the silver and I think this just softens the look of the piece. The stones are all different to each other, some showing more green, some more red and some more blue. All have that initial milky white colour but flash easily with a myriad of colours, once moved.

Each stone has been bezel set by hand into its own collared setting. In pleasing condition, on inspection under a 10X magnification jeweller’s loupe I spotted one minute nibble but it is not visible with the naked eye. It does have some patina so would polish further if that is what you prefer.  The length of the necklace is approx 44.5cm (approx 17.5 inches). The clasp on the chain has been replaced at some point in the past.

An understated but sweet piece, which is suitable to be worn as a daytime piece as well as an evening piece.

I will send in a new gift box to keep her safe and send by international tracked and signed or else by Special Delivery within the UK. Box in the images is for display only. Thank you.
