Description
A lovely, substantial English Arts and Crafts brooch c1900 in hammered silver with a central turquoise matrix stone. Most likely a piece made for sale at Liberty & Co, London. It is a beautifully hand-crafted piece of work, with wonderful foliate and berry detailing. Clusters of three berries mark the space in between the leaves and the fine ropework detailing at the foot of the stone’s setting is typical of this genre.
This is, undoubtedly, by a quality maker and it is of a statement size so will make quite an impact on your outfit. I love the way the detailed section is draped over the oval framework in four places. I also adore the large, domed matrix turquoise stone nestling in the centre of the design.
It is in excellent condition with a little patina (which I am absolutely leaving-adds to the warmth of the piece). It measures approx 4.2cm by 3.6cm.
I shall send by complimentary international tracked and signed post or within the UK by special delivery. Boxes in the images are not included.
