Description
A very appealing Art Nouveau design with hand enamelling panels , both in the central heart and above it as the tiny circle. This would have been made in the c1900 era in England and, although there is no maker’s mark-it stamped “STERLING”. I am guessing it would have been made at somewhere like the the Charles Horner or James Fenton companies. It is antique, it all feels “right” and it is lovely to have intact enamel as well as the original antique wing pearl.
The ombre effect of the enamelling of the heart is even mirrored in the tiny circle above it. That typical bubble type pale turquoise enamel at the bottom and running up to the midnight blue enamelling above it. It is such a beautiful design, especially with the outer framework and all of those sinuous Art Nouveau lines of the main structure of the pendant.
The wing pearl is attached on a fixed loop at the bottom of the pendant-that way it doesn’t move around too much but safely stays exactly at the bottom of the pendant. The bale looks original to the piece too. I have added a modern sterling silver trace chain to the pendant so that she can be worn straight away. The pendant measures approx 6.5cm in height and the length of the chain is approx 46cm (18 inches).
