A wonderfully rare Edwardian aquamarine and silver riviere necklace, featuring spectacle-set aquamarines, graduating from smallest near the clasp to larger at the front of the necklace. Crafted c1910. I have come across these rivieres with moonstones before but this is the first I have come across with aquamarines- so special!
The necklace has some weight to it, which is pleasing. It is such a tactile piece. I love how each of the 30 aquamarine cabochons is different to the next and how they have been set individually in their own spectacle settings. Typically, the colour is pale blue with a tinge of green. Some of the natural inclusions give an “ice” appearance which adds to the charm. It is also of a good length, so is ideal for wearing with a tee or a blouse- it measures approx 48.5cm (19 inches) in length. It retains its original S clasp fastener, although you may wish to have a safety chain added, to give additional peace of mind when wearing this lovely thing.
In super condition with all stones present and correct.
