Description

A lovely Art Nouveau pendant from James Fenton and dated with full UK hallmarks for Birmingham, 1908. This shield-shaped pendant is instantly recognisable as a Fenton design and has that fabulous bubble enamel, which is so bright and vivid, regardless of the fact this piece is 115 years old. Astonishing.

I love the Art Nouveau design on this pendant, with those two curved external lines of silver giving the shield an open work element. The central enamel panel is bubbled blue fading to green towards the right. There are four dots of turquoise enamel on the shield, emphasising the beauty of the shape. With the typical James Fenton inverted and enamelled heart drop, the pendant is complete.

In good condition, with a teeny tiny brown nick in the bottom drop which looks like a result of its production, rather than later damage. I will also include the fine silver chain shown in the images. The pendant is approx 4.6cm in height and the chain is approx 47cm (18.5 inches) long. Partially rubbed on maker’s mark but is a known Fenton design. He also made a brooch in the same design.

I shall post by tracked and signed in a new gift box, as the boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
