Description

This is the first Amy Sandheim piece I have ever come across with amber, so it is very exciting. This beautiful pendant  was hand-crafted by her in the 1920s, with this open work cap consisting of honesty leaves and stalks in silver. The silver and this orange, swirly, interesting chunk of amber, look just wonderful together.

Instantly recognisable as an Amy Sandheim pendant, you can see her typical integration of the bale into the main design, by having applied a single matching leaf on the front of the triangular split bale. Typical Sandheim.

It is a superbly-cut piece of amber, with darker and lighter shades of orange, including these cloudy swirls, especially on the left side of the cabochon. What looks like a scratch on the right side below the cap on some shots, is actually a line of inclusion in the amber itself. I love the triangular, chunky shape of the amber; it is a very pleasing aesthetic. Matching foliate detailing to the verso and the pendant is complete. Please note, the silver chain is not included in this listing-it is for the pendant only. It is a large bale so I am sure it would accommodate a number of types of antique chains easily.

The pendant measures approx 5.4cm in height (including the bale) and approx 3.7cm wide. In ready-to-wear, pleasing condition.

A fabulous Amy piece with those distinctive leaves looking amazing against the amber. I shall post in a new gift box by complimentary tracked and signed post. Thank you.
