A lovely, heavy beautifully-faceted rock crystal Arts and Crafts pendant, attributed to Amy Sandheim in the 1920s. Such a heavy, squat stone in your hands, it is elevated in design by the addition of three chrysoprase cabochons, most likely representing grapes.
The silver detailing, with stalks and leaves is hand crafted and you can see how each leaf has been applied one over the other. I love how the whole silver cap and detailing continues onto the verso too. No chrysoprase stones on the back but just three beautifully draped to the front of the design. They are also (rather unusually) open-backed in their bezel settings, which means that much more light gets to the stones, giving them this vivid apple green colour.
The cut of the rock crystal is spectacular. One natural inclusion half way up on the left so if you think you can see a scratch-it isn’t…it is a natural small inclusion. A lovely large silver bale and she is all ready to wear. She is in super order for a piece of this age. Under intense scrutiny with the loupe I spotted some minute at the very point of the rock crystal ….absolute minor and does not affect the shape of the point-they are that small.
A gorgeous piece measuring approx 6.3cm in height from the top of the bale. I will include the chain visible in most of the images-it is short so this could help the piece to be worn near the throat. It measures approx 38cm (14.75 inches). Please note the niello chain on the model images is NOT included as it belongs with another pendant.
I will send in a new gift box by Tracked and Signed post. Thank you.
