Here is a sensational c1930 Amy Sandheim piece, complete with the very intricate and beautiful Arts and Crafts chain with its toggle fastener. This Carnelian is light and bright orange-such a glowing orange. In typical Amy fashion it has a huge foliate detail on both sides of the pendant and in this instance, I believe the draped leaves appear to be hawthorn leaves with tiny berries dotted around the design. Gorgeous!
It ticks every box for Amy, from the hand crafted bale, decorated with a single hawthorn leaf to connect it to the main pendant, along with a carnelian bead of exactly the same light orange glowing colour. The lovely leaves’ detailing is the same on both sides so it really does not matter if the pendant turns around as you wear it.
The chain is exquisite and is removable, so you could pair with another Amy pendant – so versatile. I actually love the length, not a sautoir, which can be tricky to wear sometimes, but approx 69cm (27 inches) and that means the pendant hangs at your bust level.
This piece of Arts and Crafts work is a super example by Amy Sandheim of London – it is all-original, right down to the toggle clasp, which is always a joy to find. The height of the pendant is approx 8cm, including the decorated bale. Just a lovely piece.
