A hugely attractive, hand wrought Arts and Crafts pendant, c1900

A lovely c1900 hand-crafted, statement Arts and Crafts pendant with a particularly pleasing design. I love the exuberance of this pendant and the use of orange and green agates gives it a more rarely-seen colour palette. It is such an organic piece and feels weighty in your hand, as it is of solid and sturdy build. I adore the exquisite leaves and tiny silver balls representing grapes. It even retains its hand-wrought bale, which is of a good size to accommodate a variety of chains.

The cruciform design has a square, domed carnelian at its centre with four light green agates at the cardinal points. All stones are open-backed, allowing the light to really lift the tones of colour in each stone. To each of the four corners is an openwork design with a leaf, tendrils and clusters of silver grapes. I love too how the fine rope work detailing outlines the edges of the cruciform section of the design. At either side of the link for the bale, there is a single silver ball, in typical Arts and Crafts style. The bale is hand-crafted and has two lines of silver wire, laid vertically, decorating it.

A very pleasing design all round. In excellent condition. It measures approx 5.3cm in height (including the bale). I shall send in a new gift box (not the box in the images) and by complimentary special delivery within the UK or else by complimentary International Tracked and Signed overseas. Thank you.
