Description
A pleasing antique upper forearm bangle from the Liberty & Co, London “Plantagenet” range c1900-1905. Made to resemble the Medieval taste, it is also firmly rooted in the English Arts and Crafts tradition in the 1900s. Crafted in hand hammered pewter, which has a beautiful golden patina due to its antique age.
The Murrle Bennett aesthetics are very much emulated here, with the hand hammered metal and also the use of faux rivets in between each of the mother of pearl roundels. I love the individual bezel settings for the mother of pearl roundels too. It is rare to find a bracelet from this range, much more usual to find one of the Plantagenet small brooches. It is large so I suspect it would have been designed to wear further up your forearm, towards the elbow. It measures approx 8cm inner diameter. In pleasing antique condition with some patina. Stamped very clearly on the inside of the bangle with “REGD TRADEMARK”, “PLANTAGENET” and “HAND WROUGHT”, exactly as these were stamped for sale at Liberty & Co.
