Description
A statement antique festoon necklace with beautiful cabochons of Swiss Lapis, created c1920-1930, most likely in he United States. I have seen a similar example in my research, however, this example is much more statement. I adore the use of bows and three-leaf clovers in the links in the chains. The large drop, with its own silver cap is also a lovely size, so that adds to the collective grandure of the piece.
The domed central stone is huge, at approx 2.9cm in diameter. It makes an excellent centrepiece to the whole swag effect of the chains and spacers. The necklace also carries a sturdy weight to it, which I love. The central drop is in three sections and measures approx 10cm in height. The wearable length of the necklace is a touch over 41 cm / 16 inches. It is stamped as sterling silver and it does have a maker’s mark of “MB”.
This is an eye-catching and statement necklace which you could wear with a variety of outfits. In super condition – perfect stones and silver work. It has had a catch replacement at some point but asides from that-all original and oh so pretty!
A beautiful antique blue festoon necklace, with the added charm of flower and bows motifs.
I shall send in a new gift box (not the box in the images) and by complimentary tracked and signed post. Thank you.
