Description

A fine example of late 1800s Victorian jewellery, which features these beautiful amethysts, possibly Siberian amethysts judging by the superb colour. The main part of the pendant is decorated with filigree work and tiny silver balls. Set into the open work structure are five graduated faceted amethysts which are open-backed, allowing the light to further highlight the colour.  As if that wasn’t gorgeous enough, we also find that this necklace has a set of Toi et Moi drops.

Toi et Moi is a romantic reference to a couple (You and me) and usually you find that, as with this example, the drops are on chains of different lengths. This is the first time I have seen an example with the lovely Victorian silver balls decoration around the settings on the drops. Wonderful and they make the necklace even more eye-catching.

In pleasing condition for her age (approx 140 years!), with just one tiny sliver off one amethyst…hard to spot unless scrutinising as it seems to coincide with a facet edge at the bottom of the stone. The chain has a toggle fastener. The pendant drop is approx 6cm and the wearable length of the chain is approx 43cm (17 inches). No markings (typical for age) but silver and amethyst are confirmed as such.

I will send in a new gift box by complimentary special delivery within the UK or else by International Tracked and Signed. If you would like to upgrade to express courier, please get in touch regarding price. Thank you.
