Description
A possible Amy Sandheim design, similar ones I have seen with chrysoprase and with smoky quartz. It is, however, not the chunky foliate work crafted in the earlier pieces. This is a very attractive pairing of a superbly cut and decorated rock crystal and a super matching antique chain with a hand-crafted double foliate link and faceted rock crystal beads.
It is a beautifully light, sparkly necklace, added to by having been polished at the jewellers. I don’t usually do that to antique pieces but this was in definite need of a thorough cleaning. It is amazing to see how much more those faceted rock crystals sparkle more now. You can also see the lovely hand-tooling on each leaf clearly. The silver cap, which is on the front and verso of the main stone, is constructed by a leaves and tendrils design, larger on the front that the verso and also with three, “draping berries/grapes” on the front, each being a pale plum coloured amethyst cabochon. They are open-backed to allow the light through from the main stone.
The main stone is heavy and squat in your hand and it measures approx 6cm in height, including the bale. The chain measures approx 81.5cm (approx 32 inches). Ready to wear and in pleasing condition for something of her age.
I shall send in a new gift box by complimentary special delivery within the UK or else by courier internationally. Boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
