Description
I adore James Fenton antique Art Nouveau designs, as they are so very evocative of the early years of the 1900s. This pendant, fully hallmarked for the year 1909, exudes stylised motifs and sinuous lines of the AN movement. The main shield shaped plaque features three stylised poppy heads picked out in lime green, which is still extremely vibrant. Difficult to see on the images is the pale violet enamel that lies in the strip with the green poppy heads- a lovely combination.
The rest of the enamelled plaque is bright blue, as is the typical Fenton drop below. Sometimes these pendants appear on sale with a baroque pearl or else some other drop as a replacement for the lost one, however, this example is beautifully intact and in super condition. It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1909 and also carries the maker’s mark for James Fenton, “J.F”.
In lovely condition, the pendant measures approx 5cm in height and the later silver chain I am happy to include measures approx 45cm (a touch under 18 inches) in length.
I shall send in a new necklace gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. I shall by complimentary tracked and signed mail. Thank you.
