Description
One of the more attractive c930 enamel brooch designs by Bernard Instone. A lovely square wreath shape showing each individual leaf shape in the outer and inner lines of the form. In a rarer enamel mix with alternating pink and purple flowers. I love how their centres have been dabbed with the contrasting pink/purple too. Such tiny details, which make up an intricate and hugely attractive design.
This is a documented book piece brooch, appearing on p173 of the book “Bernard Instone Designer and Craftsman: the art of a jeweller” by Tracy Henriksen.
In pleasing condition and a fine example of the type of enamel work, for which Bernard is particularly renowned. The British Royal family bought enamel pieces directly from Bernard in the 1930s. One or two of the teeniest blue berries (when scrutinised with the loupe) seem not to have filled completely but that looks like a manufacturing issue rather than accidental damage. It measures approx 3.2cm square and retains its original pin and fittings.
I shall post by special delivery within the UK or else by international tracked and signed. Please note the boxes in the images are not included, however I will send in new box for safekeeping. Thank you.
