Description
This is a rare hand-crafted design created by Bernard Instone in the c1930 era. The necklace is featured on page 140 in the book about the designer “Bernard Instone Designer and craftsman: the art of a jeweller” by Tracy Henriksen. The main blue chalcedony is luminous and has been selected clearly because of its vivid blue colour…it’s a beauty.
Naturalistic tendrils and hand-tooled leaves decorate the top and sides of the pendant section. In true Bernard style, he has created a matching bale with the same decoration of hand-tooled leaves. It has its original chain…hurrah, and that has two fabulous blue chalcedony spacers, which extends the vivid blue of the main stone beautifully onto the chain section.
What you cannot see is the most amazing triangular inclusion within the main chalcedony stone. I am fascinated just to look at it under my loupe. It looks like a natural crystal formation but so rare to have it in a triangular formation. …it The pendant drop measures approx 4.6cm including the bale. The chain measures approx 34.5cm (13.5 inches), so it sits as a choker with the two chalcedony beads sitting at your throat. If you need an extender chain, it would be a simple solution to add extra length.
It is a beautiful piece with very striking stones. I haven’t seen another exactly like this π
I will send to you in a new gift box (not the box in the images, which is for display only) by Special Delivery within the UK or else by courier internationally. Thank you.
