Rare fish enamel choker necklace with beautiful chain, Arts and Crafts work, c1900

This is such a charming piece of antique Arts and Crafts work from the c1900 era. Clearly hand-crafted and with fired enamel designs, not just on the heart-shaped fish pendant but also with a matching enamel cabochon set to the hand-crafted catch.

The fish design is coloured so well, with a turquoise, yellow and brown body and it is set in a rough heart-shape filled with dark blue enamel representing water. The enamel cabochon on the catch is flecked with many colours but is dark blue as a base colour. I believe it may be foiled, as there is a particularly reflective patch of vivid turquoise and blues as you move the catch around. The original silver chain which accompanies the pendant is highly decorative and is very unusual in its design. There are some long rounded paperclip style links but also five rather elaborate links with silver balls decorating the outer shape. maybe it is just my mind, but they remind me of little footprints.

A lovely choker-style necklace which is hugely attractive. There are cracks in the fish on the enamel due to age but it all looks secure and it may well have been from the firing process. In pleasing condition. The pendant drop measures approx 3.3cm and the length of the chain is approx 38.5cm (approx 15.5 inches).

I will send in a new box as the box in the images is for display only. Complimentary tracked and signed post is included. Thank you. Ref: cun
