Description

A gorgeous antique c1900 French Art Nouveau pendant, which I am naming “Purple Reign” as it has different types of cut amethysts and is just a perfect piece for anyone loving purple…me included!

This beautiful, hand crafted and very rare pendant is stamped all over the place with the little French stamps for silver, which appear on the front of objects rather than the reverse, as with other assay systems. One stamp on the main bar at the top right of the pendant and then there is at least one link in all of the separate vertical drops which is also stamped.

The four chains which dangle from the main pendant structure are just lovely and I particularly love the V shape created by the two central chains joining at the bottom. The chains are actually quite chunky, which makes such a contrast to the usual finer than fine chains of that era. The two end drops terminate with a pale cabochon of amethyst each and the two central chains terminate in a larger, mille grained faceted amethyst of darker colour…a rich, plum, which is very sparkly too.

The hand crafted bale is large and noticeably hand crafted with pits and wobbles – very Arts and Crafts.
I paired this pendant with a silver paperclip chain for the photography work but please note it is not included in the sale of the pendant.

The pendant measures approx 5.7cm in height.  An amazing and unique piece, undoubtedly. Stones and silver work in great condition…one silver link from which the large amethyst hangs has been nipped together in its past and you may wish your jeweller to do a replacement. It will cost peanuts but mentioned for accuracy for you. Please note it will be sent in a new gift box by Int’l tracked and signed or else Special Delivery within the UK. I cannot post to Germany now unfortunately.
