A lovely, all authentic c1900 Murrle Bennett & Co Art Nouveau intertwined company letters piece, which is wonderfully a pendant and a brooch. Some of these gorgeous pieces were produced merely as a brooch, however, this has an original bale too so is designed as two pieces of jewellery in one. Fabulous-I actually prefer it as a statement pendant.
The art nouveau sinuous lettering of the MB is evident to see and this piece has not been cleaned or polished so there is a touch of patina, enhancing the intertwining letters. Of course, it also looks beautiful with the dark apple green of the chrysoprase stones.
The lovely dangle of the second chrysoprase stone adds extra movement to the piece when worn. I am also including the antique silver chain from the same era, complete with its barrel clasp fastener. The chain is approx 41cm (16 inches in length), which puts the pendant in a lovely position under the throat / top of chest.
In excellent condition (patina-you can decide whether it stays or goes) It measures approx 4.4cm in height by approx 3.5cm wide. No marks, as is usual for this design but tests as sterling silver.
