Description
A particularly striking German Jugendstil pendant with a rounded triangular form created in the c1900 era in Germany. It is fully stamped with the old silver mark of the crown and crescent moon, along with “800” and with a maker’ mark on the bottom right of the verso. It appears to be a “Wf” perhaps. Very similar to the Max Gradl designs of the day.
The pendant has Art Nouveau sinuous, curved lines and an open work design. Six relief panels decorate the top of the pendant, with a round cabochon of chrysoprase being set at the very bottom of the pendant. I love the detail above the stone which resembles a pair of hands with the thumbs protruding. It’s a very attractive design. The chain is pleasing too, with oval rope work links and smaller, solid silver links connecting them. An original barrel-clasp fastener with those tiny etched stars on it is a lovely addition too.
The pendant measures approx 4cm in height and the chain is approx 46cm (18 inches) in length. Some patina, which you may wish to polish further- both the pendant and chain are in excellent order.
I shall send the necklace within the UK by special delivery or else by International Tracked and Signed. I shall send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you. Ref:ctw
