A super Edwardian, c1910 lavalier pendant with two beautifully pale blue/green coloured aquamarines, the second being a large teardrop stone. Both of the aquamarines (tested as aquamarines) are well-matched in colour and are faceted, making them super sparkly. The gold trace chain leads to the first aquamarine, a round stone, in its millegrain bezel setting. Below that is suspended an open work gold link with a seed pearl in a millegrain setting in the centre.
The main section of the pendant is teardrop-shaped in form. It really is a lovely structure which gives a sort of caged effect in gold behind the aquamarine, both to protect it but also to allow the maximum light through the stone. That lovely aqua green you always wish to see in natural aquamarines, is indeed present here. From the elaborate gold setting there are 4 sets of double claws keeping the stone in its bezel setting. I adore the arching gold structure underneath the teardrop stone, as that too is punctuated with a small seed pearl in a millegrain setting.
The teardrop stone measures approx 11mm by approx 7mm at its widest point. The stones are in excellent order. A partial 9ct stamp is still visible near the catch. The total height of the pendant section is approx 4.2cm and the wearable length of the chain is approx 39cm (a touch over 15.25 inches). A beautiful antique Edwardian beauty – perfect for weddings too!
I shall send by Tracked and signed post in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
