Description

A wonderful Jugendstil / Art Nouveau necklace, c1905-1910 in the most wonderfully captivating design. The marriage of the warmth of the gold with the creamy whiteness of the mother-of-pearl and seed pearls is an excellent choice. I have never seen this design before – she is a beauty! Most likely attributable to Murrle Bennett, as I have seen an example of a particularly similar necklace with their mark on it. This is a fine necklace of quality.

This necklace came to me described as Art Nouveau and certainly, there is an element of it there- especially in the use of spacers and curved lines. The settings for the pearls and the structural lines are all created in gold with a mille grain finish, so fine and so delicate. The spacers lead to double chains on either side, which then lead to a vertically orientated rectangle of mother-of-pearl; suspended below that is the spectacular main section of the pendant, displaying an arrangement of seed pearls and mother-of-pearl panels. It is a jubilant piece.

A large gold bolt ring clasp – no markings at all but it is such a delicate piece, it is hardly any wonder. Tested as a minimum of 9ct gold. The height of the section from the seed pearl spacers to the bottom of the drop is approx 6cm. The wearable length of the necklace is approx 43cm (17 inches). She is in excellent ready-to-wear condition.

Please note I will send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
