Description

A truly spellbinding piece of Norwegian early 20th century work, which features the most exquisitely fine work I have ever come across on one of these antique Norwegian pieces. It is fine, deftly worked and has the most incredible detailing, all in pristine condition, which is such a treat.

I have seen Marius Hammer pieces before but, for me, this is another level of fine detailing. It is delicate and exquisite. There may have been a stamp on the original clasp but the clasp has been replaced during her lifetime for a gold clasp and ring. That is another sign that this is a highly prized piece. The blue enamel is striking and very tricky to catch well on photos…the colour is a sort of Kingfisher mid-blue. I adore the double row of decoration with the first row being a mixture of hand-crafted flower panels. The small flowers have their own teardrop enamel drop and the larger , more intricate panels are decorated with blue and white enamel, whilst also having the festoon chains attached to them at the bottom.

Every drop and every little dot of enamel is present and correct so this has clearly been well looked-after during her many years. The necklace is a mixture of silver and silver gilt. The height of the drop section undulates as you can see but the longest section is approx 3.6cm. The wearable length of the chain is approx 42.5cm (16.75 inches). Some patina.

I shall send by complimentary Special Delivery within the UK or by express courier internationally. Boxes in the images are not included but I will send in a lovely new necklace presentation box for you. Thank you.
