A glorious antique Arts and Crafts necklace in silver with the most stunning opals, 7 in all and 2 blister pearls, making 9 in total. Crafted by hand in England in the c1900 era, it clearly has links to the Birmingham Arts and Crafts movement. It is a sublime design of a five-petalled flower set with opals and a blister pearl at its centre, suspended on double chains and two further linked panels in the drop of the pendant. It is an opal lover’s dream!

The centrally suspended section has four ropework circles, seen in quite a number of the Birmingham School designers’ work. The drop suspended from that is set with an opal blister pearl and flanked by an opal to either side. The whole design comes together beautifully and yet, retains the articulation from having three separate parts to the pendant. It is in pleasing condition and anyone who loves opals will be delighted with the lively nature of these stones, showing just about every colour you would hope to see. They are super fiery so I am hoping you can see that in the images. They are all original to the piece too, with one of the opals being a water opal. It was typical for A&C designers to use whatever stones they had/chose so please be assured the necklace is exactly as was intended.

The pendant measures approx 5.2cm in height and the wearable length of the chain is approx 39cm (a touch over 15.25 inches) so it is a shorter choker length style. On me, the flower sits high near my neck….it looks super. It has an original shepherd’s crook fastener, in true A&C style.
