Description
Such a pretty vintage / antique pendant, which is a wonderful design executed in beautiful materials. Four oval water opals are set in a cruciform shape with a claw-set diamond set at the centre. These water opals (some call them jelly opals) are called as they seem almost liquid in their appearance. It is only when you start moving them, that you see their vibrant “hidden” colours as flashes across the top of the stone.
The opals have a base pale orange colour and each has its own colour flashes. The top stone has vibrant purples and greens and the other three have vibrant green flashes and a tiny touch of purple. They are also matched extremely well. I also love the lovely gold chunky teeth settings, which keep each stone secure. Substantial and secure.
The diamond at the centre is of good colour and sparkle and punctuates the design perfectly. There is a large bale so this pendant would accommodate a variety of types of chain. The pendant measures approx 4.3cm in height, including the bale. It is stamped “14K” on the bale. Gold and stones have been tested.
