A beautiful Jessie King (Glasgow Girls) brooch, which would have been part of the range she designed for Liberty & Co c1900-1905. I have never before seen this design so it was a very exciting find. It has no less than 8 of those fabulous and very distinctive Jessie King enamelled leaves in the blue to purple colourway and those distinctive sinuous stalks with clusters of three berries, dotted around the whole brooch.
Such a dreamlike brooch, touched with so many ethereal King details, and a domed oval moonstone sits at the centre in its open-backed millegrain bezel setting. The main three part structure of the brooch is in hammered silver with faux rivets. This was a very popular motif with Liberty, Murrle Bennett etc during that period. The tiny details are always so exquisitely crafted on Jessie King pieces.
In fair condition-there is some enamel loss so please check the images. However, it is not so noticeable when worn as the other leaves more than make up for it and so, it is a lovely piece. The moonstone is perfect. Some patina so it would clean further if that is what you desire.
It measures approx 3.4cm wide. No marks as you may expect for her enamel pieces.
I will send in a new gift box by Tracked and Signed post. Box in the images is for display only. Thank you.
