A sumptuous design by Jessie Marion King (one of the Glasgow Girls) c1900 and commissioned from her by Liberty & Co of London. It is an impressive and organic pendant, partly because of the vast array of enamelled leaves and also due to the organic browns and flashes of blues and greens in the wood opal. The ingenuity of King and the preciseness of the colour palette used in the enamelling is so inspired., She has used green and blue hues, which echo those found in the opal.

Dating from the c1900 era, the pendant features clusters of those typical King leaves around a large millegrain set opal stone. A tiny natural pearl drop is suspended below the main panel and that also has its own pair of leaves. Such a fine and delicate finishing touch.

In good condition for her age, pleasingly, the enamelling on the leaves in in good condition and you can really see the swathe of hues in the blue and green enamels used. The wood opal has a small, natural fissure, top right, and it looks like a tiny part next to the setting has crumbled..however, you have to inspect with a loupe to see it. It is not visible when you wear the necklace. It is a characteristic of using this natural stone so to me, seems like another organic element of the design. The wonderful play of colours in the wood opal is exceptional! Perhaps the jump ring suspending the pearl drop was replaced at some point – I am a stickler for details so do inspect pieces very closely. Others may not have noted this at all.  All-in-all a wonderful piece, with bright colours and excellent clusters of those King leaves.

Unstamped, as is typical, this large pendant measures approx 4.8cm in height and approx 2.5cm wide. It comes on its antique A&C silver chain, which measures approx 48cm (19 inches).

I will send in her own new gift box (not the box in the images) and ensure she is sent with Special Delivery (UK) or courier internationally.
