Description

An attractive antique silver sautoir, which was most likely created in the 1900s. It features elongated, oval links with a sinuous leaf design-very reflective of the Art Nouveau ideals of the same era.  It is a striking and substantial sautoir.

The chain is made up of these fabulous Art Nouveau silver leaf design panels, plain oval silver links and then small, amethyst glass nuggets, perhaps from what was previously Bohemia. There are ten of them in the whole sautoir. I love the length of this chain, as it really reminds you of the preferences of the day and how these necklaces reached down to your hips. Of course, you can double the chain or even triple it, as you desire. It can be worn on its own as it has that simple Jugendstil elegance of design, and you could team with a favourite pendant too.

It measures approx 146cm (57.5 inches) in length. No marks, as it has had a clasp replacement at some point in its history. Tests as silver though. The art glass nuggets are in good condition, with just one or two teeny nibbles at the end (where the rod goes through the bed) visible under scrutiny with a loupe. Absolutely minimal for glass beads of this age, pleasingly.

I will send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary tracked and signed postage is included too. Thank you.
