Description
Such a beautiful rarity to have an antique hand-made enamel Arts and Crafts featuring a female figure like this, but to have one in super condition with the enamel pristine…well, it is a joy of a thing. Firmly rooted in the c1900 English Arts and Crafts movement, this eye-catching ring was most likely made by one of the Guilds, as there were relatively few artists working this well in enamels and this is a quality piece of work.
The foiled enamel work features a red / brown haired maiden with long flowing hair, who is wearing a typical c1900 hair decoration, as you see in some of the art of the era. She is wearing a green cloak and the background is green, with gold touches here and there. It is foiled so the colours really pop, as you can see. A small oval cabochon garnet is set both above and below the portrait. To either side are silver coils…it makes me feel such a pull to some of the better Birmingham artists of the day but as it isn’t signed, it is difficult to attribute firmly.
Beautifully hand-crafted on a wide single silver band, this lovely ring is ready to wear or else to gift, It is very flattering on the finger as it has a long face at approx 2.8cm. It measures as approx UK size M (US 6.25).
A unique piece of Arts and Crafts history you can simply wear on your finger- what a dream! I shall send in a ring box by special delivery within the UK or else by express courier internationally. Thank you. (Box in the images is not included)
