A sensational design by Murrle Bennett, which I have not been able to find elsewhere during my research. Such a scarce design; I’m not even sure there is another. Crafted in the c1900 era by hand, the hand-hammered main section shows every strike of the craftsperson’s hammer. In marvellously original and perfect condition, this treat of a pendant with a moonstone set at its heart and those three beautifully colourful opals is sure to please anyone who sees her.

The arch at the top of the pendant is decorated with twisted wires in silver. The white domed moonstone set at the pendant’s centre is open-backed to allow the light to come through it. I have never seen such a design with three bezel-set opals suspended below the main panel-and it is so fabulous. The stones have an overall pale blue colour but have those distinctive blue, green and red flashes.  So very pretty! I believe the clip bale is original to the piece, as it sits in a purpose constructed groove at the back of the pendant. The chain, too, I think is original and it comes complete with its beautifully hand-worked toggle fastener.

This whole combination of pendant and chain is what I can only describe as a truly captivating combination and one which any MB collector would be glad to acquire for their collection. Stunning design and quality materials-all fully signed with the “950” (higher quality of silver than sterling) and the “MBo” stamp for Murrle Bennett.

The pendant measures approx 4.8cm (including the bale) and the chain is approx 43cm (17 inches). Stamped on verso to pendant as mentioned above. In excellent order and such a pleasing thing.
