A lovely, Sibyl Dunlop Arts and Crafts pendant necklace, c1930 in a well-recognised design by Sibyl. This lovely pendant, which focuses on the use of blue stones, is in a triangular form, with scrolling shapes and a typical fleur-de-lys design.
An earlyish design I believe so this could be from the late 1920s to early 1930s. I love the way the rounded Swiss lapis at the centre is so bright and smooth and the way the moonstones seem to take extra blue from the central stone. A small moonstone drop completes the pendant. It comes with what is most likely the original chain with a hand crafted toggle fastener. A lovely length – if you were wearing a V neck, this pendant sits inside it- for all to see.
The pendant measures approx 5.6cm in height and the wearable length of the chain is approx 45cm (17.5 inches). Typically smooth on the reverse. In very good condition overall, a ting natural fissure on the small moonstone drop at the bottom. Two of the moonstones show some evidence of water / cleaning fluid (?) having been used, in that at certain angles you can see the foil is a little discoloured to a bluey green…minimal, however. It’s a beautiful thing and ready to wear.
