Description

A beautiful multi gem set brooch, attributed as an early example from Sibyl Dunlop c1920s. I have seen one or two brooches in exactly the same design by Dunlop, hence the attribution. A colourful and joyful brooch, which features more than a dozen stones in total and includes, blue chalcedony, chrysoprase, jade, carnelians and pink tourmalines.

Lovely scrolling open work in silver on this stunning brooch and a centrally set blue tourmaline, with the usual A&C rope work detailing sitting at its base. It is a lovely lavender blue colour. The other stones, all set by hand too, have tiny mille grain settings. The carnelians have a particularly glowing translucency. The four pink tourmalines on the four corners are amazingly pretty and the whole brooch is a complete riot of colours as you move her.

With its original catch and pin-all stones and silver work are in excellent condition. No marks but tests as sterling and is fully in keeping with Dunlop’s designs-including the elongated silver star work detailing radiating from the centre stone. A lovely piece.

It measures approx 4cm by 4cm. I have demonstrated it using a lovely hand crafted and intricate antique barrel-clasped Arts and Crafts chain which I am willing to sell (at additional cost) if you would like to use it to create two pieces of jewellery instead of one, ie, brooch and necklace. This listing is for the BROOCH ONLY otherwise. Thank you! The chain is approx 38cm (15 inches) in length.

I will send by tracked and signed in a new gift box. Please note I am not currently sending to Germany.
