Description
A wonderfully high quality festoon necklace from the c1910 in astonishingly well-preserved condition. Much of this fabulous necklace has been hand-crafted, as you can see with those beautiful links. It has been executed in high carat gold, which tests as approx 18ct yellow gold. It is a striking buttery yellow gold colour, so indicative of high carat gold. An awe-inspiring piece of work.
Faceted Siberian amethysts have been used in the design and the combination of the gold and the deep hues of the amethysts are completely sumptuous. It is a true Cadbury / Royal purple colour. There are ten graduated amethysts in total, with five being mounted on the main chain and five on the festoon arrangement below it. The stones are open-backed allowing the light to further show the beauty of the purple colour. Twelve natural pearls, with such an intense creamy white lustre, have been used along the main chain and also in the festoon design. Even the detailing on the gold caps of these suspended pearls is a work of art and so unusual to find. This is a particularly special necklace in high quality materials and crafted exquisitely.
The main drop section measures approx 5.7cm in height and the wearable length of the necklace is approx 39cm (15.5 inches). It could be extended by your jeweller if you need a little more length. In superb antique condition with sparkle, bright stones and creamy lustrous pearls. Combined with the buttery high carat gold, it is a wonderful design with wonderful materials. Looks like a 9ct catch replacement has been fitted at some point. I shall send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary special delivery within the UK is included, as is International express courier. Thank you.
